CALL: Joint Prospective Graduate Student Fair

The Joint Prospective Graduate Student Fair is a meet-and-greet event intended to support those considering graduate training in music, music theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, or related fields. The Fair is an opportunity for prospective graduate students to meet with representatives of graduate departments to learn more about their degree programs, resources and curricula.

The Fair is scheduled for Friday, 11 November 2022, 5:45-6:45pm in the Jefferson Ballroom. To stay abreast of room or schedule changes, consult the searchable online program listing for this event.

Department / Program Representatives

Departments and programs wishing to participate in the Joint Prospective Graduate Student Fair are invited to reserve a table to showcase their degree programs and other offerings. The deadline for reserving a table is 21 October 2022, 11:59pm ET. Participation in the Joint Prospective Graduate Student Fair is free to both students and departments. However, because it is a Joint Annual Meeting event, both prospective students and department representatives are expected to register for the conference. (NOTE: Faculty or other institutional employees who are already registered to attend the conference may be designated as representatives for the purpose of this event).

Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students wishing to attend the Fair do not have to RSVP and are welcome to just show up. However, because this event is part of the Joint Annual Meeting, all attendees, including prospect graduate students, must be registered to attend the conference. Prospective graduate students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program are eligible for a free onsite registration for the conference. To register onsite for free, visit the Registration Desk at least two hours before the start of the Fair.

NOTE: To be eligible for a free onsite undergraduate registration, you must show proof of undergraduate status (student ID, bursar’s letter, etc.) and proof of vaccination with a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine in accord with our COVID-19 policy.

Prospective graduate students who are not currently enrolled in an undergraduate program should register using our early, regular, or onsite registration rates. More information about registering for the 2022 Joint Annual Meeting is available on our Registration page.

Universities or departments wishing to support their students and promote attendance of the Prospective Graduate Student Fair are encouraged to sponsor or subsidize a student group registration.  Student group registrations provide a small discount off the student member registration rate, regardless of the membership status of the student. They are a great way to support both graduate and undergraduate students who are exploring or pursuing careers in music studies. They provide a valuable cohort experience that makes attending a large disciplinary conference far less daunting, while also providing students with unprecedented exposure to a wide array of perspectives and subfields in music studies. For more information, visit our Student Group Registration page.
